THE CONTIGUOUS STATES of Washington and Oregon are situated on the Pacific coast of the USA between California and the Canadian state of British Columbia. The map on the right shows their position in relation to other states and their borders are shown by thin yellow/green lines. The other features on the map relate to the rainforests situated on the Alaska to California coastal strip. The Skagit tulip fields lie north of Seattle and Newport south west of Portland. The pictures on the rainforest page were taken in areas to the north and south of Newport.
