'FRONTIERLAND is a place that pulses with the energy of ideals and dreams of our forefathers. From the bustle of early transportation on the Rivers of America to the western-themed shows, shops and eateries, Frontierland celebrates the spirit and strength of the American pioneer.' (quoted from Disneyland website)

FRONTIERLAND includes the 'Rivers of America' section which provides a historical and nostalgic look at life on the rivers of the USA and the buildings and people situated on their banks and further inland.

THE 'MARK TWAIN' is the Mississippi riverboat that has been a Disneyland attraction ever since the park opened in 1955. A twenty minute journey with commentary includes such sights as cabins on fire, Indians, a wrecked mine train, and riverboat songs and calls. The riverboat is also used in the Fantasmic night shows (see Part 5). The pictures on this page and the next include river-bank scenes viewed from the 'Mark Twain'
